Hiyoshiya’s traditional umbrellas have long been popular not only in Kyoto’s iconic festivals like the Gion Matsuri, but also in Japanese arts such as ikebana (flower arrangement) and the tea ceremony. Each umbrella carries the spirit and the skill of the artisans whose techniques have been passed down through generations. Today, we are building on a long-standing tradition of kyo-wagasa making, adapting the same materials and methods to create lighting and interior pieces that blend tradition with modern design.

Through this hands-on workshop, we hope you will experience the essence of Kyoto-style umbrellas - a craft rooted in tradition yet continually evolving - and gain a deeper understanding of our long-established company that honors its heritage while embracing innovation.

We look forward to welcoming you to our workshop!
