“CROSS DELIGHTS ~ Discover Japanese Craft” at Cross Hotel Kyoto October 17 – November 7, 2025

At Cross Hotel Kyoto, the cultural program “Discover Japanese Craft” will present a special exhibition and workshop by Hiyoshiya, centered on traditional wagasa (Japanese umbrellas) and lighting.

This first program runs from October 17 to November 7, 2025.

In the lobby lounge, a photo booth created with Hiyoshiya’s nodategasa (outdoor tea umbrellas) will be installed, offering a space where tradition and contemporary design quietly come together.

On October 24 and 25, workshops led by Hiyoshiya artisans will be held.

Participants may create either a “mini wagasa” or a small lighting piece from the “KOTORI” series, while experiencing the structure and craftsmanship behind wagasa making.

In addition, panel displays introducing the making process and history of Hiyoshiya, along with an exhibition and sales of the lighting series “KOTORI,” will be available.

Visitors to Kyoto, as well as those nearby, are warmly invited to attend.

Furthermore, Cross Hotel Kyoto will offer a special accommodation plan including a visit to Hiyoshiya’s main workshop and hands-on experience, providing an opportunity to encounter Kyoto’s craftsmanship more closely.

This program is part of “CROSS DELIGHTS,” an event series that values connections with local culture and community.

Hiyoshiya is pleased to participate as part of its ongoing effort to share Kyoto’s traditional crafts with future generations and a global audience.

We invite you to experience the interplay of light and shadow shaped by traditional craftsmanship in autumn Kyoto.
