About Maruni

Founded in 1902, Maruni is a Kyoto-based maker of karakami—decorative paper created using hand-carved woodblocks and natural pigments.

Their work is used for sliding doors, wall coverings, and interior pieces.

This workshop offers an opportunity to experience the material qualities and quiet beauty of karakami in a familiar way.
