In today's changing economic climate, driven by shifts in production, distribution, and the evolution of domestic and international markets, how are traditional crafts defined and perceived? How are these transformations prompting a redefinition of the economic, cultural, and symbolic values associated with craft activities?

Held in Kansai for the first time, this special event is co-organized by two prominent institutions: the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie Française du Japon (CCIFJ) Kansai Desk, which promotes France-Japan economic exchange, and the Institut français du Kansai, a key hub for promoting French culture. Taking place in Kyoto, this event will explore the current evolution of "savoir-faire" (mastery of craftsmanship) in both France and Japan.

Through three thematic roundtables, experts from various fields will engage in dialogue (in Japanese) to deepen the discussion on key structural issues. These include: digitalization in traditional crafts and the new forms of value it creates; challenges and strategies for entering high-value international markets; and the process of recreating cultural resources—navigating between the preservation of cultural heritage and the creation of new value.

Following the roundtables, an exclusive cocktail party for event participants will be held on the terrace. Please join us for a networking reception with Japanese and French professionals.
